A lecture “NATO-Russia relations in the 21st century“ on 27 September at 15:00

The Estonian Foreign Policy Institute in cooperation with the Office of the Embassy of Canada organize a lecture “NATO-Russia relations in the 21st century“ by Mr Aurel Braun, Professor of International Relations and Political Science at the University of Toronto. Mr Braun was recently a Visiting Professor in the Department of Government at Harvard University (2012-2015) and he is a Center Associate of the Davis Center at Harvard University. USA MONITOR: Ülevaade arengutest USA-s märtsi teisel poolel

  Aap Neljas Märtsi teise poole kõige olulisem sisepoliitiline vaidlus USA-s oli vabariiklaste tervishoiureformi paketi arutelu Kongressis. Ehkki selle eelnõu olid esitanud Kongressi vabariiklased, mitte see ei olnud president Donald Trumpi ettepanek, toetas Trump jõuliselt eelnõu vastuvõtmist. Sellele vaatamata jäi eelnõu vastu võtmata mitte demokraatide vastuseisu pärast, vaid Kongressi mõlemas kojas enamuses olevate vabariiklaste sisemiste lahkhelide tõttu. See protsess osutas president Trumpi mõjukuse piiridele vabariiklaste partei sees ja võib seada kahtluse alla ka tema teiste juhtideede –nagu ulatuslik maksureform või USA infrastruktuuri ulatuslik moderniseerimine – kiire realiseerimise võimaluse. Trumpi algatused on pidurdunud ka immigratsioonipiirangute vallas, kus USA kohtutes on peatatud Trumpi uuendatud sissesõidukeelu piirangute korralduse ellurakendamise. Ilmselt laheneb nende piirangute jõustamise küsimus alles pärast kohtuvaidluste lõppu. Estonian Foreign Policy Institute is co-hosting a Tallinn Conference on the Eastern Partnership

This Friday,  February 10, the Estonian Center of Eastern Partnership (ECEAP) and Estonian Foreign Policy Institute (EVI), with the support of the European Commission Representation in Tallinn,  will be hosting the 4th annual Tallinn Conference on the Eastern Partnership, entitled  Cooperation and Communication: Expectations and Challenges for the Eastern Partnership in 2017. Over 125 participants from the diplomatic, media, government, civil society, and academic communities in Estonia are registered to attend the conference, which will focus on two main topics: how best to cooperate to promote political and economic reform in the EaP region, and how best to communicate those reforms to ordinary citizens in a strategically challenging international environment.
